A trust can be used to enable property to be purchased by a nominee on behalf of a principal. Legal title to the property is held by the nominee or nominees as trustees, but the principal is the beneficial owner. This chapter considers holding trusts in detail, namely the nature of such holdings, nominees' rights, and the execution and performance of holding trusts.
