This chapter considers a number of current issues in copyright. It discusses the general policy context and developments in the UK and EU in recent years; some of the specific issues which have brought copyright reform to the forefront in recent times; the difficulties that the new digital environment presents for copyright; how far in the digital world copyright may be replaced or superseded by contract; and possible European solutions to some particular problems in copyright law.
